Penis Enlargement Surgery
Penis enlargement surgery is an option that does permanently enlarge your penis. However, it also has many risks that you should consider before deciding to go through with this option.
Surgeons at public hospitals will usually not consider performing penis enlargement surgery for people that are merely not satisfied with their current penis size. On the other hand, cosmetic surgeons have developed various surgeries for penis enlargement. It is important to note that these kinds of penis enlargement surgery are not endorsed in any way by medical organizations. In fact, medical organizations such as the American Urological Association and the American Society of Plastic Surgeons have issued policy statements against cosmetic penis enhancement surgical procedures. What this means is that none of these cosmetic penis enlargement surgeries have been standardized or controlled, so that undertaking this kind of surgery can be extremely risky on the part of the patient.
Having said that, if you still wish to consider penis enlargement surgery, below are the most well-known penis enlargement surgeries available today.
Ligament Cutting
This surgical procedure involves the snipping of some of the suspensory ligaments that attach the penis to the pubic bone, so that a portion of the penis that used to be inside the body will hang outside of the body. After the penis has healed from the surgery, weights or stretching devices are then used for a few months to effect a permanent increase in penis length.
Reliable statistics show that 65% of the people that underwent the surgery are dissatisfied with the results. Some people reported small gains in flaccid length, but most reported no gains in erect penis length. Worse, because the suspensory ligaments are responsible for holding the penis in place and making it tilt during an erection, after the ligament is cut the erection now points downwards towards the ground. Also, because the surgery does not lengthen the skin on the penis, the lengthening actually pulls some of what used to be a part of the peripenile pubic skin down to the penis shaft, resulting in a hairy penis shaft near the base, which can be unsightly.
For these reasons, this type of penis enlargement surgery is definitely NOT recommended.
Dermal Grafting
Dermal implants aims to increase both penis girth and penis length. The effects of this kind of surgery is permanent. The procedure entails cutting a layer of tissue (i.e. dermis) from the groin or butt, that contains a good supply of blood vessels, and then grafting it within the penile shaft. This aims to increase the amount of blood flow to the penis and the penis width during erection.
From 1995 to 1997, 39 men have undergone this kind of surgery with no complications. 9 months after the surgery their penises were measured and compared to their pre-surgery dimensions. It was found that their penis diameter increased anywhere from 1.1 to 2.1cm.
Please note that results may vary from surgeon to surgeon and from patient to patient, and that surgery remains a very risky option for penis enlargement.
Liposuctioned Fat Injection
This type of procedure aims to increase penis length and girth (mainly girth). It involves liposuctioning of fat from the abdomen or thighs, and then injection of that fat into the penis shaft.
This surgery is not particularly effective. Up to 90% of the fat is reabsorbed by the body - and disappears from the penis - within a year. There are undesired side effects as well. Although the girth of the penis shaft is increased with the injection, the size of the head remains the same, which can make the penis look strange. Also, the fat cells sometimes are not as evenly distributed in the penis as they should be, making the penis look “bumpy”.
For these reasons, fat injection surgery is definitely not recommended.
Finally, it is recommended that you be very careful when exploring surgery options. Find out as much as you can about the different types of surgical procedures, and all the possible side effects and inherent risks associated with each. Finally, when seeking out a cosmetic surgeon to perform the surgery on you, take time to do the necessary research to find one who has the credentials and the experience required to perform the surgery properly and safely.
